Hard Boiled Eggs Made 5 Ways

Hard boiled eggs are a great addition to your meal prep routine. They add a a quick and easy source of protein to any meal. The best part? They are super versatile and can stay in the fridge for a long time without going bad.

In case you’re not sure how to hard-boil eggs, I’ve included a quick video to teach you how to get it done. Keep trying to get the perfect hard boiled egg (to your liking) until you perfect the process and it becomes second nature to you. I especially like hard boiled eggs because they make my meal prep super easy and they don’t create a mess while cooking.

Now that you have your hard boiled eggs ready, here are a few simple ideas to eat your hard boiled eggs:

1. Whole Egg with Salt or Dressing

Simply remove the shell and sprinkle some salt on top. I like to eat this when in a rush but in need of an energy source that will keep me going. This is a great evening snack as well. To add more flavour, try dipping it in a creamy salad dressing or veggie dip. While you’re at it, why not munch on some celery sticks or carrots 😉

2. Egg Salad

Egg salad has so many variations, you could spend hours on Pinterest looking for recipes and techniques to make one. However, it is quite simple to make. Simply peel the egg then mash it up with a fork. Then add a tablespoon of mayo for every two eggs (this step obviously depends on your personal taste, so feel free to adjust). Finally, add some salt and pepper. You’re ready to put your egg salad on a piece of toast or lettuce and enjoy. To add some flavour try mixing in some shredded cheese and chopped green onion.

3. Hard Boiled Eggs on a Salad

Toss your salad together (it should actually be tossing a salad together if you’ve followed my tips about veggie prep here). In my home we usually make salads with lettuce, diced tomatoes, cucumbers, and Caesar dressing. Once all those ingredients are tossed, slice the eggs and put them on top. For extra flavour, chop up some turkey or bacon and add on top as well. Now you have a salad that’s both pretty and filling. A great option for a light lunch!

4. Avocado & Hard Boiled Egg Toast

When you need an extra boost of energy, try this avocado, egg toast. Perfect for a morning before a big day or as an afternoon snack. Toast your bread (I like whole grain for more flavour and health benefits). Smash up your avocado; peel and slice up the eggs. Once the toast is ready, begin assembly. I like to put margarine or butter on the toast first, then avocado smash, then sliced eggs, topped with salt and ground pepper.

5. Soup with Hard Boiled Egg Crumble

To create the crumble, simply mash up the hard boiled egg with a fork. Then all that’s left is to add it on top of your soup. Which soups you add it to will depend on your preference. I suggest having it on soups that are more sour or flavourful, such as an Italian Wedding Soup (you could start with the canned version or make it yourself – here is an easy recipe from Allrecipes).

    Thanks for pinning 🙂 Yes, it’s definitely not common! My Russian grandmother used to crumble it into some soups, particularly those that were more sour, for example Italian Wedding soup.
